SUNLAB Photovoltaic Testing and Characterization Services

We welcome customers for confidential photovoltaic characterization under contract for their specific projects. A list of facility capabilities and fees are compiled below. 

1.   External Quantum Efficiency Measurements

  • Capable of measuring single or multi-junction solar cells, with light and voltage bias

  • Wavelength range of 350 nm to 1800 nm

  • Can perform absolute EQE on cells down to 5 x 5 mm. Temperature range of 25°C to 80°C

  • Typical Measurements: $1,995/8-hour day (CAD) 

2.    1-sun Photovoltaic Efficiency Measurements

  • Capable of characterizing bare cells or cell-on-carrier devices with an active area of up to 50 x 50 mm.

  • 1-sun measurements under AM1.5G or AM1.5D reference spectra

  • Reference cells traceable to NIST

  • Relative external quantum efficiency measurements included

  • Temperature control from 15°C – 100°C

  • Calibrated measurements available upon request

  • Typical Measurements: $1,995/8-hour day (CAD) 

3.   I-V Measurements Under Concentrated Illumination

  • An Oriel 1600 W solar simulator and a Spectrolab XT-30 solar simulator give us the capability to measure solar cells under continuous concentration in the ranges of 1 – 200 suns and 100 – 1200 suns respectively

  • An Alpha-Omega GEN3 concentrated PV tester, class AAA, up to 3000 suns

  • Reference spectra available: AM1.5G, AM1.5D

  • Typical Measurements: $1,995/8-hour day (CAD) 

4.   Photoluminescence

  • Excitation sources available: white light, 325 nm, 405 nm, 532 nm, 830 nm, 980 nm, 1064 nm, 1342 nm.  Detection range: 300 – 2000 nm.  Temperature range: 77 K – 70°C

  • Typical Measurements: $1,995/8-hour day (CAD)
