About us

SUNLAB is housed in the University of Ottawa. It was founded in August of 2007, followed closely by Karin Hinzer’s reception of a Canada Research Chair in Photonic Nanostructures and Integrated Devices the following month. The SUNLAB laboratories were opened in May 1, 2008, and were located in SITE on the main downtown campus of the University of Ottawa. We can now be found in the Advanced Research Complex, where we bring together physicists, engineers, chemists, and material scientists in an interdisciplinary and collaborative environment. SUNLAB is Canada's premier solar cell characterization research facility, where we focus on high performance devices and specialize in solar energy, optoelectronics, and photonics.
